Shop, Sip and Snack: Food and Champagne Tour in Paris

Shop, Sip and Snack: Food and Champagne Tour in Paris

Whenever I host a champagne workshop in Paris, participants rave about the food I serve. They always ask me: Where can I buy that pâté normand? Where can I buy that truffled Brillat Savarin cheese? Where did you get that olive bread? I love shopping for food to pair with champagne.

When friends come to visit, I sometimes take them shopping with me. We head out to my local shops, choose foods together, then come back to my home, select a champagne that pairs well with the food they chose, sit back, sip, savour and learn in a relaxed environment. I don’t know how many times someone has said: “Thank you so much! That was the highlight of my trip to Paris!” It occurred to me that you might enjoy this experience too, especially if you are travelling solo.

During this experience we will:

  • Meet at my place in the 15th arrondissement. I live in a typically Parisian apartment about a 10-minute walk from the Eiffel Tower.

  • Head out to my butcher, baker, cheese monger, or fish monger depending on what type of food you would like to try. We will have a food budget of 50€ per person. If you want caviar, you will have to pay extra! We will choose foods that don’t involve cooking or using a stove. The shopping will take 45 minutes to an hour and will be done in my neighbourhood.

  • Come back to my place, prepare the feast and select a bottle of champagne (made by a woman) that has the best chance of pairing well with the food. I will of course explain why.

  • Explore whatever aspect of champagne suits your fancy: glassware, factors that affect the quality, style and price of champagne, food pairings, history, the role played by women, etc.

When: 11:30-14:30

Cost: 300€ for 1 participant, 500€ for 2-3 participants. Food and one bottle of champagne per person included. Trying an additional bottle of champagne is an option for an extra 25-50€ depending on the champagne chosen.

Duration: 3 hours
