Join me for an exceptional off-the-beaten path trip to Champagne during harvest!

 

Program

 

Vineyards8:00: Rendez-vous at Gare de l'Est train station in front of track 10

8:30-9:45: Train to Dormans, introduction to champagne (method, grape varieties, styles, history, etc.) during the train journey

9:45-10:15: Walk to Champagne Veuve Olivier et Fils in Trélou

10:15-12:15: Visit Sandrine's cellars in action during harvest: watch how the press is loaded, grapes crushed, taste the juice fresh off the press, visit the rest of the cellars to better understand the production and ageing processes, tasting of Sandrine’s champagnes of course!

12:15-12:45: Easy hike through the vineyards to Champagne Piot-Sevillano in Vincelles. Introduction to viticulture in Champagne.

12:45-15:00: a yummy 3 course gastronomic picnic paired with 3 different champagnes made by Christine. Choice of 3 different menus: Mer (Sea), Terre (Earth) or Fromage (Cheese). Menu details will be sent to you upon registration. Introduction to champagne and food pairing during lunch. If weather is nice, we will eat on the terrace overlooking the vineyards. If weather is not nice, we will eat in the tasting room overlooking the vineyards. After lunch we will take a quick peek into Christine’s cuverie.

15:00-16:00: Hike back towards train station in Dormans

16:00-17:00: Visit the beautiful Mémorial de Dormans, built in 1919 to honour the lives lost during WWI

17:22-18:33: train back to Paris Gare de l’Est

 

Duration: 10.5 hours 

Cost: 300€/person. Covers train tickets, cellar visits and tastings, gastronomic picnic, my guiding services. Not included: bottles you might buy to bring back :-).

 

Notes:

  • We will go rain or shine.
  • You will need a mask and health pass to take the train - proof of vaccination or negative test.
  • Wear comfortable walking shoes/boots that you don’t mind getting dirty.
  • Bring a sweater or jacket because the cellars are chilly.
