We will visit a small female-owned house in the hillsides, have lunch in one of my favourite restaurants in the middle of the vineyards, visit the beautiful cellars of a big house in Reims, a beautiful Art Nouveau mansion and the cathedral in Reims.

Here is the program for the day:

Saturday September 9 

8:00: Meet Cynthia at Gare de l’Est train station in front of track 7. I will be carrying a blue backpack.

8:30-9:45: Train from Paris to Dormans. During the journey I will talk to you about the history of the wine, geography of the region, and how the industry is organised today
 
9:45-10:30: Walk along the Marne river and through vineyards to Champagne Veuve Olivier et Fils. During the walk I will talk to you about challenges of harvest this year and some of the rules and regulations in the vineyards.
 
10:30-12:30: Private tour of vineyards, press room, tank room and cellars at Champagne Veuve Olivier et Fils, a small female-owned house. By the end of the tour, you will understand all the stages involved in making champagne. And we can choose which champagnes you would like to taste.

12:30-13:00: Driver picks us up and takes us to Sacy

13:00-15:00: Lunch at Château de Sacy (https://www.chateaudesacy-reims.fr). During lunch I will talk to you about pairing champagne and food.

15:00-15:15: Driver picks us up and takes us to Reims

15:15-17:15: Private visit of Champagne Pommery, a big house with beautiful Gallo-Roman chalk cellars filled with fun modern art. You will enjoy a cellar visit as well as a tasting. Cross the street to visit Villa Demoiselle, a beautifully restored Art Nouveau mansion. Visit followed by a tasting.

17:15:17:45: Scenic walk to the cathedral  

17:45-18:30: Visit the Cathedral, talk about the history of the cathedral and role of Joan of Arc

19:15-20:00: Train back to Paris. During the journey back I will talk about whatever you want!

 

Duration: 12 hours

Cost: 400 euros/person. Includes train tickets, drivers, cellar visits and tastings, my guiding fee. Cost does not include lunch because I can’t predict what you will want to eat and drink, but menu at Château de Sacy is very reasonable!
