Trips to Champagne

Discover the land and the people.

What makes my wine tours different?

Most people just hop on a train to Reims or Epernay and visit the beautiful Gallo-Roman chalk cellars of the big champagne houses. They unfortunately only see the luxury side of champagne, and only learn about the history of a specific house, and only see where the bottles age, and it is often impersonal. You wouldn’t really need me as a guide for that!

The vineyards in the hillsides, cellars and houses were added to UNESCO’s World Heritage List in 2015, so if you leave out the vineyards, you a leaving out an important piece of the puzzle!

  • I encourage people to include at least one off-the-beaten track visit to the vineyards and the production cellars of a small house. You get to meet the person who grew the grapes and made the champagne and see ALL the steps involved in making champagne, not just the ageing process. If you visit a small house in the morning, you will definitely appreciate your visit to a big house in the afternoon even more!
  • The focus is always is always on champagne houses where women play, or have played, an important role (unless you have a special request).
  • I am a history nerd so you will learn tons about LE champagne (the wine) and LA Champagne (the region.
  • I am a foodie so I have a great list of places to eat!
  • I try to find the right balance between history, geography, culture, nature, gastronomy, and champagne tastings.
  • I am flexible and adapt to your needs and desires. I know all the right places to take you if you have reduced mobility, children, want to cycle, love food, art, architecture, etc.

You can check out the Calendar of Events to see the dates I am already booked for private excursions and definitely not available. Then you can email me to organise a bespoke trip for you. Tell me as much as you can about what you want, when you want it, how many people you will be, your interests besides tasting champagne (e.g. art, architecture, nature, food), and I will make it happen. Your wish is my command!

"We booked a private tour with Cynthia. Not only did she explain the champagne region to us, but she shared a ton of historical information with us about France, champagne, and art.  We had a wonderful day with her, so much I wish we had booked a more extended tour.  The small champagne house she took us to was incredible.  Not only were the champagnes fantastic but the time they took to show us around was great.  Would highly recommend Cynthia and won't hesitate to do another tour with her." - Adam
"Cynthia Coutu, is the BEST Champagne region tour planner.  We worked with her for almost a year to plan an extensive 3 day visit for our family of 9!  She suggested a wonderful itinerary that covered our varied interests, executed it as promised and delivered an experience beyond our expectations.  She is professional, very knowledgeable, friendly and very adaptable.  I highly and wholeheartedly recommend her. You won't be disappointed." - Juana
"Cynthia is a tremendous teacher and guide. She planned an excursion to Champagne for me and joined me for part of it--everything was absolutely top-notch. Then I attended her masterclass and learned even more. Delectabulles made my trip! Thank you, Cynthia!" - Jessica
"I really can’t say enough good things about Cynthia! We booked a day trip to champagne and the entire day was wonderful! Communication in advance was exceptional, every part of the day was well paced and adapted for our group’s abilities and knowledge. The range and depth of Cynthia’s knowledge is remarkable - she guided us in history, technical champagne making and current affairs. I’ll recommend Cynthia to all my friends on their next trip to Paris!" - Denver
